Obituary
Mr. Norman L Pitcock, Sr., 90 of Grenada passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Providence Assisted Living in Grenada. He was born on November 9, 1926 in Pope to John Robert and Viola May Pitcock. Mr. Pitcock was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Grenada, the Freemasons, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the American Legion. Mr. Pitcock was also a World War II veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre. He worked for Wonder Bread for over 30 years and later as a school bus driver for the Grenada School District. Mr. Pitcock was an avid gardener and Atlanta Braves fan.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Mckibben and Guinn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include two sons, Lamar Pitcock and his wife, Lisa of Grenada and Robert Pitcock and his wife, Machelle of Tupelo; one daughter Rae Pitcock Horlamus and her husband, Larry of Baltimore, MD; one sister, Janie Rose Miles and her husband Joe of Bellefontaine; four grandchildren, Drew Pitcock, David Partin, Michael Partin and Grace Pitcock; four great-grandchildren, Logan, Emma Kate, Duncan ,and Gibson Pitcock and dozens of nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Ray Spears Pitcock; his parents; sister, Jean Bolton; and grandson, Jeffrey Horlamus.
Pallbearers will be Lee Bolton, Randy Bolton, C.W. Bowden, Don Crossnine, John David Johnson, Joey Miles, Bobby Spears, Hubert Spears and Jeff Spears. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Fleming, Ed Stanford, Lance Turnage, Curtis Turner and Sykes Wood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church, 161 S. Line Street, Grenada, MS 38901 or Grenada Soup Kitchen, c/o Jayne Ashley, 536 Lakeridge Road, Grenada, MS. 38901.
