Pat
Zametto
Oct 16, 1943 — Sep 20, 2026
Grenada
Patricia Duncan Zametto, 82, of Grenada, Mississippi, passed away on September 20, 2026. Born on October 16, 1943, Pat lived a remarkable life defined by determination, strength, hard work, and an unwavering dedication to the cosmetology industry and the people she loved.
In 1972, Pat united in holy matrimony to Glenn Zametto. Their family was made complete in 1977 with the birth of their only son, Dominic. The love she had for her husband and son remained an important and treasured part of her life.
Pat began her career in the beauty industry when she became a licensed cosmetologist in 1963. Her love for the profession quickly grew into a passion for teaching others, and in 1965, she became a licensed cosmetology instructor. Just a few years later, in 1968, Pat purchased her first cosmetology school, beginning a journey that would become not simply her career, but one of the greatest passions and purposes of her life.
For decades, Pat poured her heart into cosmetology education. She was an educator, instructor, mentor, businesswoman, and school owner, but to so many, she was much more. She believed education could change a person’s life, and she devoted herself to giving her students the skills, confidence, discipline, and opportunity to create a future of their own.
The cosmetology schools Pat built became an extension of her family. The Academy of Hair Design represents decades of her hard work, sacrifice, determination, and love for this profession.
Pat shared an especially meaningful bond with Melvin Calton and Andrea Calton, who were not only like family, but an important part of her life and the legacy she worked so hard to create. The years they shared were filled with family, work, memories, challenges, accomplishments, and a deep connection to the schools that meant so much to Pat.
Pat is survived by family, Melvin Calton and Andrea Calton; her brother, Bill Duncan; her nieces, Michelle Byer, Melanie Thortis, and Marlena McGee; and the many members of her Academy of Hair Design family who held a special place in her heart, along with other family members, former students, colleagues, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, J.B. and Vera Duncan; her husband, Glenn Zametto; and her son, Dominic Zametto.
Though her chair may now be empty and her voice will be deeply missed, the work she began continues. Her lessons remain in the classrooms, her influence remains in the people she taught, and her spirit remains woven into the Academy of Hair Design family.
Her legacy will live on in every student she taught, every career she helped begin, every school she built, and in Melvin and Andrea, who will proudly carry forward the work and legacy she devoted her life to creating.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at McKibben & Guinn Funeral Service. Pat will be laid to rest in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Wednesday.
