Mrs. Patricia Easterling Lawrence, 78, of Grenada, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center – Grenada. She was born October 5, 1942 in Jackson to Newland Smith and Katherine Coulson Easterling. Mrs. Lawrence was a 1961 graduate of Provine High School in Jackson, MS. She went on to attend Hinds Community College. After school she met married James "Red" Lawrence in 1964 and they were married until his death in 2011. Pat was an avid bowler and enjoyed taking care of her many house plants. She was affectionately known as "Sookie" Lawrence to her friends and Mamaw Honey to her grandchildren and great grands. Her house was never empty as all the children's friends were always coming over. She treated them all as if they were her children. She was an active member of Christ Community Church and participated in many church activities until her health began to decline. She enjoyed painting, drawing and was an incredible Gin Rummy player. Pat was a custom fit specialist for women who battled breast cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 1, 2021 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Rev. John Goldwater officiating. Interment will follow in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Carroll County. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Friday at McKibben and Guinn.
Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly Marie Lawrence of Grenada; two sons, Charles Lawrence of Grenada and James Michael Lawrence(Edna) of Detroit, MI; one brother, Sidney Easterling of Destin, FL; two grandchildren, Jessica Stephens(Lewis) of Oxford and Katherine Lawrence of Grenada; two step-grandchildren, Lacie Adams and Casey Adams of Grenada; an adopted grandchild, Robbie Cross of Purvis; three great-grandchildren, Cameron Thomason, Alivia Stephens and Jameson Evans; six step-great-grandchildren, Alexis Adams, Cole Clevenger, Gabe Adams, Austin Adams, Blake Adams and Lane Adams; and her beloved cat, Mr. P.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James Lawrence.
Memorials may be directed to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Cross, Scott Dykes, Joseph Gilbert, Steve Hardin, David Philley and Lewis Stephens.
