Obituary

Mr. Raleigh Edward Wood, III, 56, of Grenada, passed away Thursday, September 12, 2019 at his residence. He was born November 28, 1962 in Bainbridge, GA to Raleigh Edward Wood, Jr. and Opal Wooten Wood. Raleigh earned his Bachelor's Degree from Mississippi State University and his Master's in Educational Leadership from the University of Mississippi. Raleigh retired after 32 years as a teacher, baseball coach and principal in the Starkville, Winona and Grenada Schools. He was a member and Elder at the Southside Church of Christ in Grenada.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada with Bro. Joey Gafford and Bro. Raleigh Wooten officiating. Interment will follow in the Fulmer Cemetery in Lafayette County. The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until service time Sunday at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Meg Ragland Wood; one daughter, Lindsay Wood Hayes (Logan) of Brandon; two sons, Raleigh Edward "Reiv" Wood, IV and Ryan Douglas Wood, both of Grenada; mother, Opal Wood of Starkville; and three brothers, Joe Wood(Leslie) of Starkville, Andy Wood(Donna) of Kosciusko and Marcus Wood of Scooba.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raleigh Edward Wood, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Robert Covin, Ross Graham, Malcom Grant, Lee Holly, Cole Surrell, Kelby Surrell, Matt Surrell and Marshall Whittemore.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
