Mr. Harold Reed Smith, 59, of Grenada, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023 at his residence. He was born January 15, 1964 in Memphis to Wilton Harold and Martha Raye Moore Smith. Reed worked for a number of years at Modine in Grenada and also as a Maintenance Supervisor at the Lynd Co. Reed possessed many skills and particularly enjoyed carpentry and woodworking. In his spare time, he loved riding his motorcycle and cherished the many friendships he made through riding. Reed also took pride in spreading joy and cheer each year at Christmastime when he would put on his Santa Claus suit. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his friends and his family. Reed's death leaves a hole in the hearts of many who loved him. He will be missed for many years to come.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 29, 2023 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Rev. Harvey Vance officiating. Interment will follow in the Smith family plot in the Crowder Cemetery. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Monday at McKibben and Guinn.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn Jackson Smith; three sons, Walter Cornelius Smith of Tupelo, Daniel Sossaman, Jr. of Cascilla and Bailey Sossaman(Samantha) of Rosebloom; two step-daughters, Dee Dee Buras and Tammy Baldos; one brother, Mark Smith(Stephanie) of Biloxi; two grandchildren, Charity Gaviorno(Lucas) and Jody Baldos; one great-grandchild, Neli Ann Gaviorno and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold Dewayne Smith.
Pallbearers will be Curtis Lauderdale, James Nix, David Smith, Tucker Smith, Bailey Sossaman, Daniel Sossaman, Jr., Robert Earl Upchurch and Bill Woods. Honorary Pallbearers will be Johnny Flowers, John Morgan and George Peace.
