Mr. Robert Calvin Hughes, 74, of Holcomb, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 at his residence. He was born August 1, 1942 in Grenada County to Stanford Eugene and Velora Hudson Hughes. He was a retired truck foreman with J.J. Ferguson in Greenwood and was a member and deacon at Bethel Baptist Church at Oxberry.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 9, 2017 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Rev. Stanley Turner officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery at Oxberry. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday evening and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty Kilgore Hughes; daughter, Lan Hughes of Holcomb; one granddaughter, Karlan Denley of Holcomb; two sisters, Ella Joan Martin of Bossier City, LA and Maria Lynn Kilgore of Holcomb; and two brothers, Johnny Hughes of Pelahatchie and James Hughes of Byhalia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Alice Faye Martin and one brother, Morris Wayne Hughes.
Pallbearers will be Danny Hughes, Hobie Lynn Hughes, John Wayne Hughes, S.T. Hughes, Milton Kilgore and Asa Ramsey.
