Mr. Wilburn Roger Waters, 69, of Duck Hill, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. He was born August 28, 1946 in Duck Hill to Thomas Franklin and Elizabeth Alene Rodgers Waters. He was a graduate of Binford High School in Duck Hill and retired after having worked at Luvata in Grenada for over 45 years. Roger was a member of Elliott Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, assistant Sunday School teacher and choir member. He will be remembered as a humble servant of the Lord who was loved and respected by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Elliott Baptist Church with Bro. Larry Brinker, Bro. Gladwin Carpenter and Bro. John Gray officiating. Interment will follow in the Elliott Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday evening at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Lucy Alexander Waters; two sons, Shane Waters and his wife, Cheryl of Grenada and Rodney Waters and his wife, Beverly of Duck Hill; four sisters, Evelyn Pate of Hernando, Gloria Carpenter (Rev. Gladwin) of Grenada, Tommie McReynolds (Kenneth) of Kerrville, TX and Shirley Fowler (Jesse) of Picayune, MS; five grandchildren, Hannah Waters, Shelby Mansfield, Landon Waters, Talon Waters and Summer Waters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Charlotte Waters.
Pallbearers will be Harold Barton, Dale Burt, Jerone Funderburg, Andrew McCormick, Keith McGee, Robbie Roberts, Ricky Swanson and Mike Woods. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam Alldread, Linda Crosthwait, Punk Bennett, Weston Birdsong, Robert Dunn, Wayne Edwards, Mark Harville, Charles Norris and Sam Shepherd.
Memorials may be directed to Elliott Baptist Church.
