Mrs. Ruth Calder Bolen Polk, 88, of Grenada, passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. She was born August 12, 1930 in Pittsboro to Johnny H. and Jesse Estelle Harrelson Calder. She retired after working many years as a tax collector for the City of Grenada. Ruth was an active member of First Baptist Church – Grenada.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 23, 2019 at First Baptist Church – Grenada with Dr. John Boler and Dr. Jim Nunnelee officiating. Interment will follow in the Grenada Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until service time Saturday at First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Ron Bolen(Mary Beth) of Senatobia; granddaughter, Christie Griffin(Justin) of Tupelo; three great-grandchildren, Preston, Brooks and Rachel Caroline Griffin; two step-sons, Wayne Polk(Cheryl) of Meridian and Stanley Polk(Angie) of Tulsa, OK; two step-grandchildren, Amanda Floyd(Shawn) and Andrew Polk(Mary Beth); sister, Jeanne Walls of Jackson; niece, Teresa Vanlandingham and a nephew, Zane Walls.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, James B. Bolen and her second husband, Vernon Polk.

Pallbearers will be Bill Defenbaugh, Chris Fleming, Jay Gore, III, Justin Griffin, Wayne Polk, Wayne Smith, Jeff Sanford and Zane Walls.

Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church – Grenada or the Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo.
