Mrs. Ruth Ella Wright Staten, 86, of Grenada, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2017 in Jackson. She was born July 18, 1930 in Tallahatchie County to Francis Solan and Glenn Little Wright. Ruth was a retired Supervisor at Pennaco Hosiery having worked there for over 40 years. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 4, 2017 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Dr. Brent Barker officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethel Cemetery at Oxberry. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Survivors include her son, Mike Staten and his wife, Dewana of Grenada; two sisters, Mary Sue Smith Lee and Glenda Faye Wright, both of Huntsville, AL; three grandchildren, Shane Staten, Hallie Staten and Lindsey Harville; four great-grandchildren, Emily and Jackson Staten and Wes and Stella Harville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Jefferson Staten; a son, John Staten; one sister, Peggy Jean Wright Gaskins; three brothers, Francis Lloyd "Skeets" Wright, John Little Wright and Herman Shuford "Shorty" Wilkie.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Bolen, James Burkhalter, Justin Caine, Jonathan Harville, Marc Sjoholm and Shane Staten.
