Sara Inez Moore died on Thursday September 9, 2021 at Baptist Hospital in Oxford MS after a brief illness. Services will be held Monday September 13 at First Presbyterian Church in Grenada. The family will receive visitors at 1:00 PM and services will begin at 2:00 PM. A private family burial will be held following at Duck Hill Cemetery.

Sara was born on October 24, 1931 in Calhoun County, MS. The daughter of Lee R. Moore and Mae Betterton Moore, she was the youngest of six children. She graduated from Calhoun City High School in the class of 1950. She was a member of their championship basketball team while in high school. A graduate of the Grenada School of Nursing, she did additional nurses training at Charity Hospital in New Orleans and The Florida State Hospital.

In 1954 she married Earl Alexander Moore Jr. in Biloxi, MS. They were married for 57 years before his death in 2012. Their life was spent in Duck Hill, MS raising their four children. Surviving Sara are her two daughters, Linda Newell and her husband Bruce of Greenwood, Ginger Cooke and her husband Steve of Clarksdale and her granddaughter Molly Cooke of Oxford, and her two sons Earl Alexander "Trey" Moore III of Calhoun County, and Lee Herring Moore of Oxford.  She was predeceased by her husband and her granddaughter Alexa Cooke.

She spent many years as a registered nurse in the Grenada Hospital and later at the Mississippi Department of Health. An active member of First Presbyterian, Sara was a faithful member of the Lenten luncheon committee. She also was very involved with Kirk Academy in her children's education and other activities.

In their retirement, she and Earl spent their time traveling abroad and seeing much of America also. Her last years were spent living at Elmcroft of Oxford where she enjoyed her time there with many friends old and new.
