Mrs. Sarah H. Thornton, 86, of Grenada, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. She was born November 7, 1929 in Neshoba County to J.B. and Lessie McCrory Hardy. She had worked for many years at Cliff Colbert Chevrolet in Grenada. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Grenada where she worked as a church secretary later in her career.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, April 11, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Grenada with Dr. John Boler and Dr. Jim Nunnelee officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Corey (Don) of Southaven; one son, George Robert Thornton (Linda) of Douglasville, GA; three brothers, James Hardy of Linwood, Bennie Hardy of Pearl and Clayton Hardy (Margaret) of Linwood; five grandchildren, John Thornton, Tyler Thornton, Donnie Corey, Susan McCullough and Sara Corey; five great-grandchildren, Reagan Corey, Ruth Corey, Raylan Thornton, Sierra Thornton and Joshua Thornton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Thornton; two sisters, Earline Hardy and Shirley H. Guthrie; and three brothers, Paul, Bill and Tom Hardy.
