Mr. L Q "Sonny" Raper, 83, of Duck Hill, passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021 at his residence.  He was born Tuesday, January 18, 1938 in Duck Hill to L Q and Esther Louise Haynes Raper.  Sonny retired as Operations Manager at Screw Conveyor in Winona.  He was a devoted member of Duck Hill Baptist Church and honorably served in Mississippi Army National Guard.  Sonny will long be remembered as a Little League Baseball Coach, an avid Ole Miss Rebels fan and a cattleman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 29, 2021 at Duck Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Buchanan and Rev. Kerry Gibson officiating.  Interment will follow in the Duck Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday evening at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service Thursday at Duck Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Carolyn Gay Raper; one daughter, Christan Raper Corbett of Brandon; three sons, Douglas Raper(Cathy) of Grenada, Quint Raper(Sandy) of Duck Hill and Kevin Raper(Demetria) of Flora; one sister, Linda Raper Goodroe of Greenville, TX; ten grandchildren, Chris Corbett, Jessica Mizell, Michael Counts, Taylor Decell, Hillary Ross, Kaden Raper, Russ Raper, Lane Raper, John Digby and Britney Digby and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Jonathan Raper.
