Mr. Stephen Kent Johnson, 62, of Holcomb, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at his residence. Born August 29, 1963, in Memphis, Stephen was the son of Jerry Dean and Ada Loyce Greaver Johnson.

Stephen earned a degree in Civil Engineering from Mississippi State University and had spent over a decade employed with the Mississippi Office of State Aid Road Construction. He brought the same steady dedication to his everyday life that he carried into everything he did.

Outside of his career, Stephen loved the outdoors and the simple joys of life. Over the years, fishing, water skiing, and playing volleyball were among his favorite pastimes, and he especially treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren—his greatest joy in recent years. He was a devoted Mississippi State Bulldog fan, always finding reasons to cheer on the Bulldogs in any sport. Whether he was working in his yard or enjoying good food with others, Stephen had a way of making everyday moments feel meaningful.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his memory will live on through the many hearts he touched.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, August 3, 2026 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Rev. James McElroy officiating and his son, Nason Johnson, delivering the eulogy. The family will receive friends from noon until service time Monday at McKibben and Guinn.

Survivors include his son, Nason Johnson of Grenada; two sisters, Patsy Skelton of Olive Branch and Cathy Benefield(Benny) of Osyka; and grandchildren, Kent Layne Johnson and Conner Nason Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Tina Burkley and a daughter, Kayla Gandy.
