Mrs. Sylvia Jean Carpenter Jaudon was born on April 29, 1940 in Carroll County, Mississippi. She went home to be with her Lord at the age of 85 on April 8, 2026.

Sylvia is survived by two children, Valorie Jaudon Woods(Mike) of Duck Hill, MS and Trent Jaudon(Susan) of Louisville, MS. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Kayla McCormick(Jeremy), Audra Chesteen(Andrew), Micah Brooke Smith(Ben), Brittany Plunkett(Charlie) and Brianna Parker(Austin); eight great-grandchildren, Jalynn McCormick, Stetson McCormick, Bryleigh McCormick, Selah Joy Chesteen, Drew Chesteen, Maddyn Kate Smith, Collins Plunkett and Davis Anne Plunkett; and a brother, Gladwin Carpenter.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, W.C. Jaudon, Jr. and her parents, William Harold Carpenter and Norean Birdie Bell Carpenter.

Sylvia was secretary/receptionist for several schools and businesses including Holcomb School District, Grenada Lake Academy, First Baptist Church and Ballard Chiropractic Clinic. In her early years she owned and managed Sylvia’s Beauty Shop and later owned and operated Medical Electrolysis by Sylvia. She also taught piano lessons.

Faith and family were of utmost importance to Sylvia. She trusted Jesus at an early age and served the Lord at many churches through her gift of music. She played the piano or organ at several churches including Central Baptist Church, Holcomb Baptist Church, Elliott Baptist Church, Enon Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church. She also served her Lord by playing for many revivals, weddings and funerals.

Sylvia and W.C. loved watching their children and grandchildren play basketball. They never missed a game of Valorie’s or Trent’s and followed their grandchildren as long as health allowed. She was devoted to her family and found her greatest happiness in their presence. She found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren and now great-grandchildren.

We want to thank all the friends and family who cared for Mama with special thanks to Nell McGee, Marylyn McNeal and Stephanie Shankle.

Pallbearers are Ben Smith, Andrew Chesteen, Charlie Plunkett, Austin Parker, Jeremy McCormick and Sam Marter.

Honorary Pallbearers are Harvey Darby, Charles Norris, Jerone Funderburg and Colon Woods.
