Terry "Tip" May, 58, of Zachary, LA, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2016. Terry's dedication to medicine and love of life has been an inspiration to his colleagues, family and friends, and his open, jovial personality never failed to turn strangers into friends and friends into family. Terry was born in Marianna, FL to Claudy and Louise Beck May. A native of Stewart, MS, Terry grew up the youngest of five children and dedicated his life to saving others as a paramedic in both Mississippi and Louisiana. Terry was a University of Mississippi alumnus and former American Heart Association President, Chairman of the Board, ECC Director, and National Faculty Member, as well as, a Hospital Corporation of America Regional Manager. He also served as Director of Public Relations for East Baton Rouge Parish for many years. Terry was committed to educating the public on safety and life-saving techniques, bringing safety education to schools through his work with EMS with lively puppet shows and a remote-controlled robot ambulance named "Perry Medic" who loved to dance to oldies. He leaves behind his wife, Melissa; daughters, Melodee Wills and her husband, Rob, Lauren May and Nikki May; one sister, Patsy and three brothers, Phillip, D.L. and Emmett.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, June 9, 2016 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Bro. Bob Cook officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday evening and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
