Mr. Thomas Henry "Tom" Carroll, Jr., 85, of Grenada, passed away Thursday, August 10, 2023 at his residence.  Tom was born June 24, 1938 in Grenada to Thomas Henry, Sr. and Dorothy Pegg Carroll.  An active member of First Baptist Church, Tom served in numerous capacities in the church through the years including Chairman of Deacons and Sanctuary Choir member.  Tom was a graduate of John Rundle High School and Mississippi State University.  He also furthered his education through graduate courses from the University of Wisconsin, University of Oklahoma and Harvard University.  Always very civic minded, Tom previously served on the board of directors of the Grenada County Chamber of Commerce and Grenada County Economic Development Foundation.  He also was past-president and member of the board of the Grenada Country Club as well as a 25-year member and past director of the Grenada Kiwanis Club.  Tom enjoyed a career spanning over 39 years in the banking industry.  In 1962, Tom joined the Grenada Trust and Banking Company which later merged with Bank of Mississippi.  In the early 1980s, Tom was offered the opportunity to join the team at Sunburst Bank and stayed there through the transitions to Union Planters and ultimately retiring in 2001 from Regions Bank.  An avid outdoorsman, Tom was a lifelong member of the Teoc Timber Hunting Club.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, August 14, 2023 at First Baptist Church – Grenada with Dr. John Boler and Dr. Jim Nunnelee officiating.  Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 3:00 – 5:00 PM Sunday evening at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service Monday at First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Carroll; son, Charles Carroll(Christin) of Olive Branch and two grandchildren, Matthew Jackson Carroll and Jonathan Day Carroll, both of Blue Springs.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tommie Gene Carroll and a grandson, Nathan Daniel Carroll.

Pallbearers will be Coley Bailey, Bill Daly, Roger Dale Goodson, Harry Lott, Jr., David McElwrath and Robert McElwrath.

Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church – Grenada Building Fund or to the Downs Syndrome Association of Memphis and the Mid-South.
