Earl Alexander "Trey" Moore III died at home in Calhoun County, Mississippi on November 13, 2024. Trey was born on January 27, 1960 in Grenada Hospital. as the third child and first son of Earl Alexander Moore, Jr. and Sara Inez Moore. He grew up in Duck Hill where his early
years were spent in the local public school. In the fifth grade, he transferred to Kirk Academy and graduated in 1978. He enjoyed playing many sports, particularly football. As a lifelong Ole Miss fan, Trey next attended the University of Mississippi. Later, he joined the United States Air Force and served his country proudly. First Presbyterian Church in Grenada was always an important part of his life. He served there many years as both a longterm Elder and Chairman of the Building and Maintenance committee. Trey was known as an avid hunter and as a true friend to many. He was particularly talented at growing an assortment of vegetables on his farm and loved to share with neighbors and family. His special expertise was producing the most perfect tomatoes. As a regular featured guest on Nellie Neal's The Garden Mama show, he loved imparting tips to this community of avid gardeners.
Trey was predeceased by his parents and his niece Alexa Cooke, as well as his brother-in-law Bruce Newell. He is survived by sisters Linda Newell of Greenwood, Ginger Cooke (Steve) of Clarksdale, brother Lee Moore of Oxford and niece Molly Myres (Rivers) of Oxford. His beloved
dog Obie also survives him.
Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, November 16. There will be a Visitation at 1:00 and a Celebration of Life at 2:00 with the Rev. Bobby Vance officiating.
Arrangements have been entrusted to McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada.
In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated to First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 387, Grenada, MS 38902, or to the Duck Hill Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 220, Duck Hill, MS 38925.
