Ms. Vernell Edwards Gray, 81, of Coffeeville, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford.  She was born November 18, 1938 in Coffeeville to Leroy and Lucile Haynes Edwards.  Vernell was an active and devoted member of First Baptist Church – Coffeeville where she had served for many years as church pianist.  She had worked for over 30 years as personnel manager at Kellwood in Coffeeville and ultimately retired from Carpenter Management in Grenada.  While she was a loving mother, sister and friend, the title she adored most was grandmother.  Her sweet spirit and dry wit will be remembered and cherished for many years to come.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 20, 2020 at First Baptist Church – Coffeeville with Rev. Truman Scarborough and Rev. Craig Baker officiating.  Interment will follow in the Broadstreet Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time Saturday at the church.

Survivors include a daughter, Deana Gray of Coffeeville; son, Gaylon Gray(Lisa) of Coffeeville; sister, Vera Shows of Louisville; brother, Rev. James Edwards(Shirley) of Coffeeville; and a very special granddaughter, Novie Claire Gray of Calhoun City.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
