Mrs. Vida Gibson Corley of Grenada, MS, passed away on February 22, 2021, in Brandon, MS, at the age of 94.

Vida was born in Fords Well Community, Yalobusha County, MS, on July 21, 1926, to Earl Alvin and Lucille Gibson.  She was the eldest of seven children, and she worked very hard to make sure her family had the things they needed during difficult times in the 1930s and 1940s.  While working in Greenwood, MS she met William Silas "Si" Corley.  They were married on December 18, 1946, and celebrated 58 years of marriage before Si passed away.

Mrs. Corley worked in the cafeteria at Jones Road Elementary School in Grenada for 30 years, and she attended Van Dorn Street Church of Christ.  Throughout her life, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and puzzles.  Vida was often asked to create delicious birthday and wedding cakes for family and friends, and it brought her so much joy to cook for others.  She loved sharing wonderful family recipes and cooking tips with her granddaughters and her daughter-in-law.  She always welcomed family and friends into her home with a smile, a delicious dessert and her warm Southern hospitality.

She is survived by her son, Melvin Corley and his wife, Linda; two granddaughters, Melanie Corley Bishop(Brent) and Amy Corley Pearson(Michael); two great-granddaughters, Emma Bishop and Riley Bishop; sister, Mildred Gibson Collins(William); and brother, David Gibson(Barbara).

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Si Corley; and her siblings, Frances Louise Gibson, Margaret Goedecke, Earl Gibson and Ray Gibson.

Family and friends will gather for visitation from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Thursday, February 25, 2021 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada.  A graveside service to celebrate her life will immediately follow visitation at 3:00 PM at the Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton with Bro. Charles Blair officiating.
