Obituary

Timothy Wayne Moore, 59, of Grenada, Mississippi, passed away at his home on the morning of Friday, April 15, 2022.

Wayne was born Nov. 16, 1962, in Columbia, then later moved to Kosciusko where he attended high school. He continued schooling at Holmes Community College before graduating from Delta State University. Wayne spent his career in the grocery business, working for nearly thirty years with wholesale companies in Memphis, Tennessee, before returning to Grenada to manage Grocery Basket.

He and his wife Cynthia met in a hospital waiting room, and the couple would marry exactly a year later in December 1989. Each fall Saturday they could be found at the Grove in Oxford, enjoying Ole Miss football with their Grove Group friends. He was occasionally renowned as the best cook in the world, and he never made a dish the same way twice. He was always seen in his father's beloved red pickup truck, and he regularly enjoyed visiting his favorite restaurants in town. He was always kind and generous to every person he met.

He was preceded in death by his father, Guinn Moore, and parents-in-law A.W. and Bettye Floyd. He is survived by his wife Cynthia Moore and son Carter Moore of Grenada; mother Emily Moore of Kosciusko and San Antonio, Texas; sisters Vivian (Mack) Burns also of San Antonio, Texas and Dottie (David) Vlasuk of Kirkland, Washington; niece Ana (Trent) Houg of Scottsdale, Arizona, and nephews Ryan (Emily) Burns of Grants Pass, Oregon, and William Burns of Memphis, Tennessee; sister-in-law Stephanie Floyd of Pearl; and a host of adoring cousins.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Grenada. Interment will follow in the Oddfellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service Thursday at First Baptist Church.

Pallbearers are Carter Moore, Mack Burns, William Burns, Howard Holaday, Randy McDaniel, Carl Peoples and David Vlasuk. Honorary pallbearers are Ryan Burns, Anthony Freeny, Kirk McDaniel, Dick Peoples, Joe Waggoner, Chuck Wood, Claude Gunter, John Simmons, Jeff Taylor, friends of the Grove Group and the employees of Grocery Basket.
