Obituary

Rev. William Everette Martin, 85, of Grenada, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center – Grenada. He was born May 12, 1929 in Grenada County to Felix Buford and Summie Lee Worsham Martin. He was a graduate of Mississippi College and continued his studies at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a retired Baptist Minister having pastored in six different states over the course of over 50 years. In addition to his pastoral duties, he enjoyed being a part of several international mission trips and spent many years in hospital ministry. He was a member of First Baptist Church – Grenada and enjoyed spending time with his family, working in his yard and time spent at his farm.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 10, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Grenada with Rev. Michael Lee and Dr. Jim Nunnelee officiating. Interment will follow in the Red Hill Cemetery near Duck Hill. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until service time Friday at the church.

Survivors include his wife, Arma Glyn Caffey Martin; one daughter, Camille Chapman of Ridgeland; one son, Tony Martin of Counce, TN; one brother, E.B. Martin of Jackson, MS; six grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons, Larry Everette Martin and Glenn Allen Martin.

Pallbearers will be Kenny Caffey, David Harbison, Gary Marter, Donald Marter, Tony Martin and Jason McIlwain.
